Alejandra Aristizabal (Manizales b.1987 - )

About

Born in 1987 in Manizales, Colombia. Alejandra studied Visual Arts at Miami International University of Art & Design, where she dedicated her time to explore with painting, photography, and sculpture, using the human body as a way to communicate. Mixing colors, textures, lights and cultures, have been fundamental for her career transformation. Her abstract pieces tend to attack Colombia´s violent society. In 2014 she started working in digital media, creating content for Fusion, an ABC-Univision joint-venture. At the same time, she was working with Federico Uribe, a Colombian artist based in Miami since 1997. She was motivated by the movement of the materials, positions, and colors of objects, transforming simple objects into collisions In 2015 she experienced a new stage: textile sculpture. Showing her pieces at the exhibition “They Demand Freedom from Constraint” at Young At Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 2016 she decided to pursue a master in Communication Design, at
the IED Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid. Her studies took her to involve more in Colombia´s nature, culture and materials discovering the great advantages of the Fique plant. Her work has been shown around Europe, the United States, and Colombia.
