Molly Hatch ( 1978 - )

Born in 1978, the daughter of a painter and an organic dairy farmer, my childhood was divided between physical labor, play and creating art. I studied drawing, printmaking and ceramics receiving my BFA at the Museum School in Boston in 2000. After ceramic residencies and apprenticeships in the US and abroad, I received my MFA in ceramics at the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2008. My career in ceramics has led to collaborations with institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Clark Art Institute as well as collaborations with design and industry through the development of a lifestyle brand carried by Philadelphia-based retailer Anthropologie and others. I have been a visiting faulty in the Ceramics Area at the Rhode Island School of Design since 2012. I make my work from my home studio in Northampton, MA where I live with my husband and daughter.
