Biography :
Mercedes Bravo was born in Pinar del Rio, a beautiful rural province east of Havana, Cuba, and home to many of Cuba’s most famous artists. Fascinated by art since childhood, Mercedes started classes at the Academy of Art in Pinar del Rio at age 14; graduating at age 18 with a professional technical diploma in Visual Arts. Her thesis concerned the role of costume design as a conceptual element in the “masking” of women, and that theme has been a fundamental thread running through her evolution from fashion design to painting. She pursued her design and artistic career at the Cultural Center in Pinar del Rio for the next 5 years, during which time she participated in numerous group exhibitions, which included her drawings and acrylic paintings in addition to fashion designs. Seeking a broader platform for her art, Mercedes emigrated to Venezuela in 2011. From 2011 to 2014, she taught art at a community cooperative in Caracas and worked as a fashion designer in Bogota, Colombia. In early 2015 she moved to the United States and is now living and working in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Detailed Description :
Ms. Bravo's images depict the emotional power of dreams, nightmares, joy and sorrow, that are a part of every woman’s life. She uses her elaborate style to excite a sensual response, even using the ultimate elixir of sublimation – red wine – as a medium in her works on paper.

As an Iranian immigrant growing up before the revolution, from spending formative years in a secular international school exposed to various world cultures; to experiencing revolution and war; I have learned to navigate my life in imagined in-between spaces. Art acts as a stable nexus synthesizing my diametric worlds: secular and religious, Iranian and American; public and private, east and west.

+ Carlos Antonio Rancaño
X
Biography :
Carlos Rancaño was born in Miami of Cuban/Panamanian parents. After graduating cum laude from Miami International University with a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design, he started his career in advertising.
Detailed Description :
Even though Rancaño was always keen on drawing, it was the strict rules of design that gradually led him toward painting. The free spirit that lives in his work is a direct response to the more simplistic approach of graphic design. His work is saturated with bright, warm colors and sharp, rigid brush strokes serving as a pedestal to the subjects in his work. Spreading from an array of themes, like bold portraits of women to African child soldiers, his work is never one-dimensional. Rancaño embraces contradiction and conflict in his works – struggles between good and bad, peace and stress, virtues and sins – something he refers to as the “subtle chaos.”

+ Olga Vargas
X
Biography :
Olga Vargas was born in Cali, Colombia in 1978; she immigrated to Miami, Florida in 1990 and currently resides in Miramar. Olga has been involved in the professional art and technical world as an Interior Designer since she graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 2001.
Detailed Description :
Olga started her first and most recent collection “Shredded Views” in November 2012. The collection is inspired by landscapes, 'cityscapes', and iconic architecture from past and present history, all based on her passion for traveling and appreciation of color. The entire collection is composed of collage using magazine paper that has been shredded first and later applied by the artist on canvas. There is no paint or marker mixed into her collages except for her signature. “There is something about cutting, gluing, and forming a vision with your finger tips that inspires me. It’s like sculpting in a two-dimensional format”, says Olga. She continues to pursue other art forms that involve re-purposing materials (such as magazines) and furniture.
